During today’s peer revisions, the most helpful thing was getting advice on how to make my essay shorter. I was already pretty over the word limit of 600 and I also needed to add more words meaning I would need to get rid of a few paragraphs. It was helpful to hear about different ways to do that and get an outside opinion of what is and isn’t necessary to better my essay. Another thing that was helpful for me during the peer revisions was hearing someone else’s opinion on my overall story idea and how I executed telling the story. My personal narrative included reflection throughout the essay rather than a paragraph or two at the end so it was good to have someone read an integrated essay and give me feedback. My next steps are mainly to get my word count down as well as explain more in depth about the time when I actually physically dropped off my brother to college.

I also have to cut down my essay. When I read over my draft, I was completely clueless on what to cut because I felt they were all needed. However, the peer conferencing helped me to figure out the parts that are not necessary. I think even when I wrote my actual college essay, I struggled a lot to stay within the word count, and it was actually the biggest problem that I had.
