Lately, my family has been taking turns cooking meals on the weekends so we can try out new recipes and not eat the same things all the time. Last week, I made stuffed bell peppers and I thought they were pretty good. My mom is usually the one to go to the grocery store to pick up ingredients and she got green bell peppers. Green bell peppers are my least favorite while red and yellow are my favorite ones. Although we didn’t use the red and yellow ones, I still liked how they came out and I would definitely make them again. This week the recipe I chose was tomato soup because I’ve never made it before and it’s my favorite type of soup. The recipe I found looked pretty easy to do so that’s what I’m looking forward to this weekend.

Fun Friday
I would rather teach a high-school class because I would not want my parents teaching students. I think they would either bore the class or brainwash them with their own beliefs and opinions. Also, I think it would be kind of fun to teach a class because after taking so many classes from teachers, I could actually make the class my own and decide how everything will play out. I would probably be a really chill teacher but also make sure that my class would be learning things. I wouldn’t give them a final exam but probably a project because that would be more fun. Also, I wouldn’t want my parents to teach a class because my friends would probably think they can be annoying at times and I wouldn’t want to always run into them at school.
The last movie I watched was Everything Everything. I really enjoyed this movie because I think it had a good balance between having an interesting plot as well as getting at the emotion of the viewer. The plot was about a girl who thought she would be severely sick for her whole life because her mom had always led her to believe that. She was required to stay inside of her house at all times and her family members would have to sanitize themselves and everything that comes into the house because she was not able to come into contact with the outside world. However, a new family moves in next door which changes her life forever. I would explain more but I don’t want to spoil it. I liked this movie because it was filled with unexpected plot-twists but also had a romantic film kind of feeling to it. What I mean by this is that it wasn’t an outright romance movie but it did include some aspects that provided the viewer a connection with the characters in the movie. Another part that I enjoyed about this movie was the theme. (The literal theme) It was very clear that everything that was shown in the movie was thought out carefully in order to achieve a scene that was pristine and perfect. Everything came across as neat and clean which made it pretty satisfying to watch.

Dream Job 5/7
There isn’t one specific subject or major that I’m completely invested and interested at the moment but a dream job for me would probably be an engineer. I don’t know a ton about being an engineer but recently, I’ve been researching about it and the career interests me. I have found that I enjoy applying mathematical equations to problems in order to find a solution so I believe I would have fun solving problems on a larger scale including buildings and other structures. Also, I like to be creative and design things and I think that part of me would enjoy thinking of solutions to certain problems in our world regarding how things are made. Also, I know that engineers make pretty good money, so that definitely contributes to my balanced interest as well.
I would rather be able to know what someone is thinking at any given moment. Although being capable of controlling the way someone thinks of you is definitely something cool to do, I choose the other option because I’m pretty curious about people’s true thoughts. In today’s society many people don’t actually say what’s on their mind. I think it would be cool to know what someone actually thinks about a certain issue or even a person. Also, if I was able to control how someone thought of me, I don’t think I would truly be able to accept the person that I am. I would probably just end up not being my best self and rely on that power to gain respect from others, which I wouldn’t want to do. Also, if I was able to know what someone is thinking at any given moment, I would be able to know if someone is lying or isn’t one of my true friends based off of whether they actually say what’s on their mind. Also, I could be able to know if someone is sad about something but doesn’t want to say anything about it and I could make sure that everything would be okay.
Day 2: May Day
My favorite memory from May Day would probably be from a couple years ago (I think I was in 6th or 7th grade) when I watched the May Day queen dance with her mom, my former religion teacher from 4th grade, Mrs. Miyata. Although the religion classes we had with her were pretty short and we wouldn’t really do much, I remember always enjoying having Mrs. Miyata as a teacher. She would always be in a good mood which made me feel happy too. When I watched her dance with her daughter that year, I remember it so clearly because it was really cool to see the two of them dance together. She would always talk about her daughter to us during class and what she was up to so it was memorable to finally see them together doing something that they both enjoy. I also remember how they danced very gracefully which also summarizes just how everyone that dances at May Day is always so graceful and peaceful. Something that I miss about the May Day assembly would probably be watching my friends dance. I rarely ever get to see my friends dance in a real performance and it’s different to see them actually be serious for something when it’s not very often that I see them in that way.
During today’s peer revisions, the most helpful thing was getting advice on how to make my essay shorter. I was already pretty over the word limit of 600 and I also needed to add more words meaning I would need to get rid of a few paragraphs. It was helpful to hear about different ways to do that and get an outside opinion of what is and isn’t necessary to better my essay. Another thing that was helpful for me during the peer revisions was hearing someone else’s opinion on my overall story idea and how I executed telling the story. My personal narrative included reflection throughout the essay rather than a paragraph or two at the end so it was good to have someone read an integrated essay and give me feedback. My next steps are mainly to get my word count down as well as explain more in depth about the time when I actually physically dropped off my brother to college.
Fun Friday
If I could choose anything to reopen in the state first, I would choose the schools. I definitely prefer going to school regularly over doing classes online although some of friends like to have classes at home. I miss my friends and seeing familiar faces around school while everything felt normal. I can’t wait to go back to school again and although it sounds pretty strange, I would rather be in a class taking a test than doing homework at home.
Day 2: What has changed?
During this time, one thing that has changed for me is that I have been forced to manage my time wisely. With so much time on my hands, I’ve had to learn how to divide my time so I can finish my schoolwork as well as relax and do fun things. Also, because I’m in my room for the majority of the day, it’s easy to just jump into my bed after class or whenever I’m not doing work so it’s easier to lose track of time. Because I have so much freedom with how I spend my time, it’s been pretty different having to be aware of how I use it.
